A common elimination communication holding position supports baby’s back and thighs while you face them or hold them facing out over a pot, sink, or toilet, keeping hips gently flexed. Prioritise comfort and safety for both of you.
Newborns often prefer a secure cradled hold over a small pot or sink. Stop if hips or neck feel strained — switch positions or try a supported sit later.
As sitting arrives, shift toward potty sits. Same cue, less holding strength needed. See 6–12 months EC.
Use backup nappies between offers. Clothing that opens easily makes holds less fussy.
